Did anyone on this forum go to Woodstock in '69? As this is a hippie forum, I am interested to chat to someone who did.

I have seen documentaries about Woodstock, and it looks like it was truly one amazing event.

it was just heartbreaking to see the sham in '99 when they tried to do it again and it turned into a riot...

proves you can't go home again!

I didn't know they'd tried to do it again in '99... I must look this one up.

it was such a farce... saw it on the telly and just laughed at the silliness of it all.

Thanks for the link, Thumper. I notice that they charged an entry fee for the 1999 one.

Here in the UK festivals used to be reasonably priced - you did not need to be terribly well off to go to one. But now they have become big business, and it's really expensive to get a ticket to Glastonbury, T in the Park, and suchlike.

it breaks my heart to see corporations making so much money off of what used to be spontanous fun events...

sadder more that most of these CEO's making the cash used to be Hippies themselves! What happened???

There's still some reasonably priced and free events available though, tho with not such big name bands, or with bands that don't want to be too commercial.

I went to a free festival at the weekend. Very Happy
