Now the Monkees were pretty quintessentially sixties. Weren't they one of the first manufactured bands?
They did a tv series too. Or were they manufactured specifically for the tv series?
I don't actually remember them as being that good.
I think there were a few movies too. |

I think they were a manufactured band for the series, TH.
But their music was great and I still love to hear it today.
...and yes, Davy Jones was soooooo cute |

Who didn't love Davy? *I* didn't! I thought MIKE was the very best of all... and cutest. Oh great, now that music will be playing in my head all night... "here we come walkin' down the street....." hehe Oh well, it could be worse, it could be the Andy Griffith theme or... Bonanza! Oh no!! Make it stop! |

I'm still stuck on Daydream Believer.
Crikey, looks like I'm going to splash out on a cd!
I think we may have boosted their royalties. |

He's till very attractive today though, isn't he.
I find it very disappointing when you sometimes see your formal idols and they've just turned into very average middle aged men. |

| Hehe Yes, I know what you mean! I recently saw "Peter Brady" (Chris Knight) at an interview session and although he's a very handsome man, it's not the sqeaky-voiced little boy who couldn't sing when his voice was changing, that's for sure! |

Donny Osmond looks really OK now, I reckon. He seems to lead a really healthy lifestyle.
I was surprised to see Rory Gallagher and Peter Frampton in middle age - both looked completely different. Bloated, I would say. I wonder if it's booze that does it? |

Bloated! What a lovely diplomatic way to say it! I'll have to remember that! And yes, to the poster who said Donny aged well, that's for sure! |

I grew up in the 80s, but instead of having posters of the popular bands of the day on my wall, mine were plastered with the Monkees. Especially Davy Jones.
I discovered The Monkees televison show on a cable television station when my family took a trip to Florida to visit my grandmother. I was hooked. I think I was only ten and didn't know it wasn't a recent show. I guess maybe they were only a few years into reruns at the time, though.
Years later, when they made a come back for their 20th Anniversary Tour, I was there. I think my first concert was a Monkees concert. They may have been manufactured, but I thought they were great. |

I didn't even know that they got together for an anniversary concert! Where was it held? Were they good? I've noticed that some tours and concerts that are 'comebacks' sometimes aren't very thrilling.
