Did you lot in the US see this film?

Set in Sheffield in the 70's.

My claim to fame.

I grew up there, and the club that they did the strip scene in - well I saw my first (and last) male stripper there when I was 16!

I saw the film in the theatres, and have watched my copy at home a zillion times.

I will never get tired of The Full Monty! There is something so good about it!

I love the humour of it. But probably because it was what I grew up with and can relate to.
I'm still like that now!

Robert Carlisle was brilliant. His accent...you would never have guessed he's a scot.

Yes, I saw it - brilliant!

I live not far from Sheffield. In fact my home town is on the York-Sheffield line.

Wow, I had no idea it was set in the 70s.

Loved the movie. I went to see the Chippendales just recently (yes, tis true!) and they did You Can Leave Your Hat On. Reminded me of the movie.

But no Hot Chocolate ... You Sexy Thang!

Yes, Beaus. It was set at a time when all the steel works were going and work was very hard to find.

I think the area with the canal scene at the beginning is now all modern apartments.

People were very desperate for work and money in Sheffield at that time. Well, they were all over England.
We had programmes like Boys From the Blackstuff as well.

Anybody remember that?

It was made in '97. I thought it was set in the nineties, not the seventies? Unemployment didn't kick in really badly until around the early eighties.
