Any fans of the Beatles out there? I am quite fond of their earlier more rock n' roll sort of stuff, as opposed to when they went more psychedelic.

What Beatles era do you prefer?

BTW: a very good film about their early years in Hamburg is "Backbeat".

my aunt actually went to one of their concerts in Montreal and had to be slapped silly by my other aunt when she went hysterical...

Laughing

I'm still a big fan, tho it irks me when kids ask "Was Paul McCartney in a band before Wings?"

argh!

Glad to hear you are still a fan. Any favorite Beatles numbers? Was there a Beatles era that you prefer?

I'm into the older stuff, "Love Me Do" and "Hold Your Hand" - not into the later druggie stuff.

Me too, Thumper! Love their older stuff. Less keen on their later, more psychedelic sort of stuff.

My 9 year old daughter is already trained to know the Beatles when they come on the radio.

Her other favorite band is Queen, and she had front row seats at a Prince concert when she was 6. What can I say? We're raising her right!

Oh, yes - I love Queen too! Saw them live in Hyde Park!

I like Prince too - one of my friends is a big fan of his.

The death of Freddie Mercury? Yes, that was a great loss.

Funny - I wasn't a huge Queen fan back the 70's...........and I don't care for some of their songs; but some do rock. And, I think FREDDIE Mercury was a showman before his time.

Prince is awesome. I've seen him twice. Talk about an entertainer. And, he's very small. I mean - very small.

Don't throw rotten eggs *or* tomatoes, please, but I may be the only person in the US *or* UK who never got into the Beatles too much. I'm not sure why. I did like some of the songs (Hey Jude most of all), but I was never a big fan.

We only throw rocks for not liking the Beatles Shocked

I only liked their early stuff, but together they just made up such a professional and talented team that you don't seem to see the likes of very often.

I think the fact that they all went on to excel in what they did, really proves the point.

they did shift successfully through the years... and individually, did darned well, considering how many bands don't survive!

Actually, I think the Beatles are more popular outside the UK than in it. Here nobody ever talks about them, yet other places I've been even young peeps like them.
