It was in the late seventies that punk rock came to the fore, at least so in the UK. Leading the field were the Sex Pistols, who shocked everyone - well, most people perhaps, but ended up being much admired for their raw, angry music.
"God Save the Queen", produced in the Queen's Silver Jubilee year, was banned.
One way or another, after punk, contemporary music was never quite the same again: after punk came the New Romantics, and New Wave. |

Well, "Sid & Nancy' will always be one of my favorite movies!
Sid was so ............... cool? Can't say that, really. But what was the singers' name? He's still very mean. |

| Was Johnny Rotten - now reverted to his real name John Lydon. He did a lot of good stuff as Public Image Ltd. |

Well, I'll admit here and now, that I never liked it.
I remember the first time I heard it. Went to a nightclub in late '76 and everybody in the room was 'pogo'ing!
I tried it for a bit but it hurt my knees and made my sinuses play up.
Never liked it after that. |

Aw - I loved pogo-ing!
And I still love a lot of the Sex Pistols: Anarchy in the UK, Pretty Vacant... |

Well I felt sick after a very short period of time!
And watching a whole room full of people doing it is not good on the old balance.
They seemed to be having a good time though |

| Punk is great. There was a lot of great punk bands back in the day. Sex Pistols and the Ramones are my favorite. But I can't forget Black Flag either. But that wasn't the 70's really. Sorry, a little off the 70's topic. I didn't like Public Image Ltd at all. |

| I guess I'm one of the minority in here. I didn't like the punk rock at all. I just couldn't get into that kind of music at all. So, unfortunately, I don't know a whole lot about punk rock. I have heard of the sex pistols before though. |

| I'm still into punk rock but I also like Rock n Roll. My son likes punk rock now also. I think it's cool. My son wants to go all punk and get a mohawk but my wife won't let him. I told him I don't mind if he did that but if his mom said no, well that's what it's going to be. I can't go against my wife and let him do it. |

| I had come across this interesting thing and this punk girl walks into a hospital with an appendix and had to be operated. She was dressed with all the punk regalia the Mohawk hair, the color and all, in addition she had dyed her pubic hair green and tattooed just above it "don't mow the lawn". The doctors had no choice and one of the doctors wrote a note on her clothing saying, sorry I'd to mow the lawn. They were amazing. It's a tough fight if you've kids. |
