I see more and more about how many Republican senators are trying to distance themselves from Bush. But he still seems to have reasonable public support--hell plenty of people have voted from him (x2).
But every week we seem to get more weirndess from the man. Like he uses his very first veto to ensure extra fertilsied eges (few hours or days old and frozen) from fertility clinics are destroyed rather than used in stem cell research. if he really opposes killing fertalised eggs why is he happy to let the pracrise of creating them and throwing them away continue and outlay research that might save others?
I just don't get it. Is there a real appeal of bush to some voters or would pretty much any figure head get the same amount of votes? |

I think he is just grappling. Seems like this is an issue that *may* get him support from the people he is losing. He's a puppet and we are all suffering for it. But what honestly is going to come of it? It's not like he's going to get impeached. I mean, you have to do something really, really bad for that to happen-right Clinton? |

Could it be that the practise of creating them also creates wealth for somebody with a lot of pull over him?
There are so many people out there with vested interests, it's really difficult to apply common sense to any issue. |

he's a lame-duck - the next Prez, unless the Dems really screwit up, will be a Democrat and the country will lean to the left again.
it's the circle of life! |

I am quire sure that he won't touch fertility clincs for the very reason that the wealthy right are the main customers for them (Too exepnsive for the poor--and I rather suspect the wealthy left might be more likely to adopt etc).
I guess you might be right in wanting these people's voptes. The is majority support in the US for allowing the use of these suplus fertilised eggs but if you only looked at Republicans then that might not be true? |

OK, so who do you think will get in next time?
And what happens to Bush - in a political sense I mean? |

Bush has had a good run. he'll head of and sit his arse on various executive boards and gives talks for a quarter mill a pop.
Who's next. Hell. Nonoe of the possibilties look terribly promising. A whole row of suits with grinning wives. |

Old presidents go on to do all kinds of things. Bush will probably retire to his ranch and spend the days watching baseball and fishing or something. Those appear to be the things we wanted to do in the first place! |

You see, over here they stay in politics. Usually they leave it a couple of years before they come on tv and explain what really happened when they handled a situation when they were in power.
Maybe our lot are more reluctant to let go of the cash than yours? They usually die in harness |

| Let me tell my view about americans and bush. Americans always want to dominate other. That can be either logically or physically. Bush have same nature.Thats the main reason he get bloody more vote. I am never in his side. |

why don't you get your facts straight. #1 Bush is the ONLY President to EVER fund stem cell research with federal dollars. #2 The veto prevents FEDERAL DOLLARS from creating NEW embryos for rsearch. It doesn't stop or slow the research at all on EXISTING embryos. #3 It does not prevent any PRIVATE company from pushing forward with the research.
We live in a capatilist society (too bad socialists, get lost). Free market capatilism will determine if and when stem cell technology ever pays off. Get off the "hate Bush" bus and do some f'ing homework before you spew your liberal propaganda to the masses. I am in no way a "diehard Bush follower" but at least tell the truth when you present these stories to other people. |

and to call Bush a puppet is laughable at best. The man continues to baffle his own party because he WON'T be a puppet. He fights for what he believes in, even when the powers that be don't agree with him. That is the definition of courage in politics but you guys can't see or understand that because that is not the leftist way. Political correctness is for pussies and should NEVER be the platform for a leadership party.
Abe Lincoln did the same thing to his party that Bush is doing now and we hail Lincoln as a true American hero for standing his ground in spite of the cowards in Washington.
Being a hippie is more than hating the poltical structure and singing peace songs. Sometimes peace takes a strong hand to deliver and maintain. Above all, be honest with yourselves and each other. You hate Bush because the media and the Democrats hate Bush. But dounbtful ANY of you have actually researched the BS you hear from the news and internet to see what the whole story is. |
