| Those were very controversial trips similar to the back packers of today wherever they were taking place, mostly in Asia, Mid East, Africa, because they were done with no or little money for the most part. Those who participated in it gained some experience and could have had a tough but a swell time. |

I wasn't old enough back then... and NOW when it sounds like an
incredible experience, it's no longer safe. I guess I just missed the
boat. |

| You can still travel backpacking and become penny pincher and at times take advantage of whatever comes your way or go after certain things just like the old day, and it could work, because those locations are still there and are much richer today. However, if there is a catch now it's getting a bit easier to make money without going into an eight hour a day arrangement, which means at least you can have the seed money say for a year’s trip or if you want to work and plan you make good money as well. |

Right... but how does one know where the safe places in the world are
to visit... backpacking means being out in the open and people know when
someone is vulnerable like that. Where would your top three backpacking destinations be? |
