I once travelled through Arizona by bus. It was just so beautiful. The desert, the sky, the cacti - a totally amazing landscape for somebody from Europe.
I'd like to go back there some day. A friend of mine is going there next week - lucky him! |

I've never travelled so I'm extremely jealous.
Doesn't California remind you of the original hippies?
Did the Midnight Cowboy go to California or was it somewhere else? |

Yes - California does somehow remind me of hippies.
My friends in California said that Californians, and probably West Coast people generally, had a reputation for being avant garde, because they were the people who just kept going until they couldn't travel any further.
California is supposed to be more "laid back" than say New York, but that may also be due to the weather, in the same way that the South of France is more laid back than say Yorkshire.
I haven't seen Midnight Cowboy - I must be one of the few people that has not seen it! |

I love the analogy!
Yorkshire and South of France
It's very difficult to look laid back in wellies, a woolly hat and thermals.
Come on, there must be somebody out there who's seen Midnight Cowboy!! |

| Arizona does have some beautiful scenary but depending on where you are and when can be horrible. I lived in Yuma, which can get extremely hot, to the point you open your door and it feels like a wall of heat. Course I was 9 months pregnant twice in the dead of summer, probably didn't help much. But it did have some beautiful places to discover. |

I must admit I'm not too fond of the heat.
It's difficult to function in it at the best of times, never mind when you are 9 months pregnant! |

OK, point taken!
Maybe he was actually one of the original hippies?
Did they have them in the 1930's |

I live right here in Arizona. It's really heating up this time of year, and we're getting some amazing lightning storms with the monsoons. This is my favorite time of year here.
Tucson in particular is a great hippie hangout - lots of outdoor living, summer clothing all year round, laid-back lifestyle...
...all with a south-west feel, of course! |

I've been thru Tucson - not really seen it though.
I would love to explore some more parts of the US. |

I also travelled a city called pokhara for three day. First day on bus and other in cycle. It was really funny. But never get chance to go abroad.
Actually i always wanted to visit USA. Maybe i will do that after my high school. I am planning to do further study in USA. |

| Me too Deelip, that's what I am dreaming of, but I was not able to do so because it's really expensive to go to USA or even in our neighboring Asian countries. I can't afford to. |
