Who would be your hippy role model?

For me it would be New Zealand Poet James K Baxter. he wrote brilliant stuff, had the great big beard and started a commune.

Not sure. I don't think I've ever even had a role model.

Famous person that I want to read about next is Lise Meitner.

I don't think I've ever had a role model either.

I must go and think about this one.

There is stuff that I've always wanted to be able to do and achieve, but not following one particular person I don't think.

No wonder the current trend for marketing everything on the planet goes over my head!

Same here, I've never had a role model that I can think of either. I guess I've always been rebel enough to want to be my own person and not try to be like someone else. Rolling Eyes

You can't help but be similar to everyone else. You have all these ideals floating around in the world, you pick and choose which ones you'll follow and that is you but that is also someone else. Get my meaning?

It's like saying that you want to go against the conformity. You reject one's group ideals but you end up still following another group's ideals and norms and slowly you conform to their ideals of what you should be.
It's a never ending cycle.

I believe everyone has had some kind of "role model "wheter it's not a person or a set of ideals that they agree with.

But surely we must evolve purely from following somebody else, Nights?

We would never progress if we didn't.

Although I admit there is a societal tendancy at the moment to imitate.

I think it's a psychological, healthy reality that we can learnb by emulating others that we admire rather than doing everthing by trail and error. Generally starting by basically accepting (with modification) or rejecting the lifestyle of your family and peers.

I didn't mean is there some guy you stalking and want to 100% like (hell James K was a misogynist and he never bathed, and he dies before I was even born) just who has given you some guidance and inspiration.

I've never really had a role model. If I had to choose one, it would be a singer, because I can't sing a note to save my soul. Very Happy

This happens because when the number of the participants is high and those held in high regard were not necessarily identical but with the same wave length. But singers like Bob Dylon for example have given the whole process the rebellious tinge, but he might not be the only one, so even such accomplished performers fail to be role models.

What do you think of Jim Carrey? He can be a hippy role model for me. He's a great celebrity as well as famous of being a comedian.
