Monty Python's Flying Circus was actually aired for the first time in 1969, but I tend to think of it as a very seventies phenomenon. It certainly was original and ground-breaking!
I once showed it to a friend of mine in Japan who had never seen it before, and he was over the moon! |

I never liked it at the time. It was too over the top, but maybe I was too young to appreciate it.
I can actually see the humour in it more these days.
And who hasn't heard of the Life of Brian and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life?? |

LOL!!!!
Life of Brian was a good one!
Yes, I think there were some bits of Python that were less funny. I certainly didn't like all of it. |

Even if people hate it on a general level, there is always at least ONE sketch that they love!
I love the lumberjack sketch as well!

Yes - I agree, Thump, that some of their stuff on women was not very good.
<thinks> For those of you in the UK, did ya watch "Lefties" on the telly the other night? |

Go on, enlighten us.
I usually only get to see TV when I'm out visiting. |

| It was on radical feminists in the eighties - quite interesting. Interviews with a lot of the former/still rad fems, such as Linda Bellos, and other women that worked at Spare Rib. |

Monty Python was always a little uneven IMO, but you can't beat some of those classic quotes! They live on...
"You mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!" |

Uneven is a good way to describe MP. |

It's rather enlightening to see how people like Michael Palin have turned out though.
I thought he was completely nuts at the time, but now think he is a great bloke with a brilliant sense of humour and wit. |
