| Well, it is a song by Alanis Morrisette, but I had to use Wikipedia to work this one out! |

| So, it's not a cute pair of black shoes that little girls wear with dresses? |

No ... I don't think it's that.
Wikipedia have a good disambiguation page for this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_jane
Now, which one would it be, I wonder? |

Jack the Ripper victim????
I've never bothered since my sister went on a trip to Amsterdam, had some cake and her lips went numb for 2 days.
Who wants to feel like they've had collengen injections for all that time |

Sounds dire!
I've been to Amsterdam a few times. One time was on a lengthy backpacking tour that I did by myself. I stayed at the Youth Hostel there, the one on Kloveniersburgwal, and made loads of friends - from the US, Italy, France, England. You're never on your own in a youth hostel - always meet lots of like minded peeps, interested in travel and international understanding. |

I tried "mary jane" a few times, but it always made me deathly ill-I know, shouldn't I have stopped after the first try? Not me, wanted to be one of the "gang". Someone once suggested an allergy to THC, but I've never heard of this and I certainly don't have the nerve-or time-to ask an allergist |

| I don't touch the stuff. I'm clean and sober. I tried MJ when I was in High School but it just didn't work for me. I didn't like it. |

My ignorance will show in this post. I honestly thought we were talking about shoes, not drugs. |

| I was never into that stuff either, frankly it made me want to vomit at the smell, but I knew others who could not get enough of the stuff. |

| I don't smoke anymore, but certainly have no ill will towards those who do, it simply doesn't fit into being a mother for me. As for the people who rank it as being "more" or "worse" than medicine.....man, it's about a tenth (or less) as harmful and much much more effective than many of the meds that doctors prescribe in it's place. My husband uses in extreme moderation to treat bipolar disorder and has gone from being incapable of holding even the easiest of jobs to owning his own successful business in under 5 years. He has been on pretty much any and every drug the doctors use to treat bipolar at one point or another, and a small bit of MJ is more effective with fewer side effects and essentially no risk (he vaporizes, not smokes). |

| I, personally, was speaking about medicine in generally rather than instead of medicinal mj--I take any chemical only when the benefits are clearly better than any potential costs. It is clear mj has medicinal effects and the US government needs to lighten up a bit on that front. But no effective drug has, literally or effectively, no risk. The bulk of possible ill effects are in the smoke but even directly mj has effects on the brain and sperm. |
