Was Glam Rock popular in the US in the seventies the same way it was in the UK? I'm thinking of bands like: T Rex, Sweet, Slade, David Bowie, Roxy Music, etc.
I think it may have been called "Glitter Rock" in the US. |

| That's interesting. For us, all of that is very seventies. By the eighties it was post punk - such as the Clash and the Jam, and New Wave - such as ABC, Roxy Music. Also in the early eighties ska was popular - particularly Madness and the Specials. |

| England has always been way ahead of the US as far as musical and fashion trends go. |

| LOL, I don't know if I would say WAY ahead. Not lately. And no offense, some of the stuff passing for music over there is barely discernable from irritating noise. |

| It probably depends on where the trend originated, and then takes time to cross the pond one way or the other. |

I think Hookah is right though. Some of the stuff now is horrible.
We've definitely got worse...I mean look at the Eurovision Song Contest |

And some of the stuff now is great! How about the Kaiser Chiefs? Franz Ferdinand? Goldfrapp?
There always was horrible stuff, it hasn't just been invented. |

| We had a few glam rock bands in Australia in the 70s. Sherbet and Skyhooks were the biggies. Skyhooks' lead singer "Shirley" died in a light plane crash just a couple of years ago. He was a real character. Those guys really knew how to dress. |
